Living Trust and Prenup
A living trust is a legal arrangement in which a person, known as the grantor, transfers ownership of assets into a trust during their lifetime. The grantor retains control of the assets and may amend or revoke the trust at any time. Upon the grantor’s death, the assets are transferred to designated beneficiaries according to the terms of the trust.
Living trusts are used to avoid probate, which is the court process of administering an estate, maintain privacy by keeping asset distribution out of the public record, and streamline the transfer of assets. They can also provide for the management of assets in the event of the grantor’s incapacity.
How Can We Help
At DM Norman Law, we assist clients with the creation, amendment, and administration of living trusts. This includes preparing trust documents, transferring ownership of assets into the trust, and advising on related estate planning tools such as wills, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
We also provide guidance to successor trustees on managing and distributing trust assets in accordance with the trust’s terms and applicable laws. Our services are designed to ensure that the trust is properly structured, legally compliant, and aligned with the client’s objectives.
